My CalEndure Datebook

I've been on a recent search for a new datebook for the coming year! This was not an easy task!
I'm pretty fussy ....I like to review the one month at a glance with daily squares big enough to write in. I also like extra space for doodling or logging favourite quotations I find while out and about during the day. I like to keep lists for groceries, errands to run, friends to call, letters to write....in short my life evolves around a myriad of lists....probably because I can't remember my name half the time. And since I can't remember where I put all the lists, I want to keep them all together for easy access. Plus.....have you noticed that there are very very few appointment books that are creative and artsy fartsy? The couple I did find at Chapters didn't interest me.

So out of necessity I created my own CalEndure. For the front cover, I chose a paint palette with twelve paint splashes with each splash reminding me to ponder the prompt that hour. To create less frustration I added tabs for each month. I added a beaded bookmark, a pen and a few ribbons to tie the book together. Several layers of Final Coat....and with over 50 pages.... I now have my own CalEndure to last me a few years......a journal, a diary and a datebook tied together in one place.

"CalEndure" was coined by Marnie, ArtellaLand.
Created with acrylics, watercolour pencils, ink, embellishments and beads.
Now off to schedule my "dates" to fill in those squares!

  3. Great idea. I've tried calendar books but they don't work for me. I don't have many appointments to remember but more, its like you say, they don't leave room for the quotes and sketches. I'll have to think about what would work for me. Yours is very colorful and looks like it'd be a joy everytime you open it.

  5. What a gorgeous "CalEndure"! It's really a great idea! I always have to revamp my datebook for the year. They don't seem realize the kind of spaces an artist needs! Great work!

  6. Beautiful! I've often had the same problem with calendars. How big is your calendar? I would love to see the inside!

  7. I want to see the inside too! Are all of your month dividers decorated? Gorgeous work! And isn't it true that we creative people just have to make our own custom stuff? Good thing it's more like fun for us!
